Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC) set out to modernize their online fundraising experience to better support donor intent, particularly around tribute giving. As part of this effort, they selected Fundraise Up as their new donation platform to reduce friction, improve personalization, and create a more seamless giving experience.
One of their goals was to increase the volume & value of tribute gifts made in tribute of loved ones.

Supporting a Successful Platform Transition
We partnered with OCC during their migration to Fundraise Up, supporting key elements of the transition to ensure a smooth rollout. Our team provided guidance on donation form structure, user experience considerations, and best practices, helping OCC fully leverage Fundraise Up’s out-of-the-box, conversion-optimized features that are continuously A/B tested for performance.
Ongoing Campaign Strategy & Optimization
As a strategic partner, we’ve supported OCC in evolving their annual campaign strategy within Fundraise Up. This includes testing messaging, optimizing ask arrays, and leveraging the platform’s built-in, continuously A/B-tested features such as smart donation prompts, dynamic payment options, and mobile-first design to improve performance during key fundraising moments.
Tribute Giving Experience Optimization
OCC’s tribute giving experience was streamlined by consolidating two separate donation forms which were previously split between “in memory” and “in honor”, into a single, unified flow. The language was also evolved to a more inclusive and intuitive “dedicate this donation,” making it easier for donors to understand and engage with tribute giving. Leveraging Fundraise Up’s optimized experience, the personalized message step was moved to post-donation, reducing friction during the transaction while still enabling meaningful donor expression. The result is a simpler, more seamless journey that better supports donor intent and drives higher completion rates.
Continuous Improvement & Insights
Through ongoing analysis and collaboration, we’ve helped OCC identify opportunities to further enhance performance. From UX refinements to data-informed recommendations, our partnership ensures their fundraising program continues to grow and adapt over time.
The Results
Since implementing Fundraise Up and refining their strategy, Ovarian Cancer Canada has seen a meaningful increase in tribute giving revenue and engagement.
Improvements driven by Fundraise Up’s optimized, A/B-tested donation experience have led to higher conversion rates among tribute donors. Donors are more likely to complete their gifts and engage with tribute features such as notifications and personalized messages. Ongoing optimization combining platform capabilities with strategic guidance has also contributed to increases in average gift size, strengthening the overall impact of tribute donations.
