Nurses Week Message Board
To celebrate Nurses Week, NYU Langone Health wanted to create an engaging, interactive experience that both honored their nurses and inspired their community to take part. The goal was to design a digital space where supporters could share heartfelt messages of gratitude, connect with the larger NYULH community, and ultimately drive donations to support initiatives.

Our Solution
Designing for Engagement
One of the main goals of the campaign is to feel more interactive than a traditional form or static webpage. The concept was to create a full-screen experience where user-generated messages floated in a dynamic, almost three-dimensional space—giving visitors the feeling of being part of a live, ongoing celebration.
Building with Luminate Online®
Because NYULH’s infrastructure is powered by Luminate Online®, we leveraged its survey module in a creative way. Instead of using the tool for standard surveys, we reconfigured it using our creative development skills to capture custom messages of gratitude. Once submitted, these messages were automatically displayed on the message board in real-time—no delays, no manual approvals—providing instant feedback for participants.
Bringing the Experience to Life
To heighten the sense of motion and connection, we designed the board with a continuous side-scroll of messages, hover animations, and scaling effects to make the board visually dynamic. This not only created visual interest but also encouraged visitors to keep scrolling and reading, increasing time on page and overall interaction. Accessibility was prioritized with features such as keyboard shortcuts, focus trapping in modals, and clear instructions tailored to desktop and mobile users. A helper popup guided new visitors, while a “View All Messages” option provided structured access to the growing collection.
Encouraging Participation and Giving
Alongside the message submission, we integrated donation opportunities. Supporters could both share their appreciation and make a gift in honor of nurses, creating a seamless journey from engagement to contribution. By tying emotional connection directly to action, the campaign maximized both impact and reach.

Project Highlights
Result
NYULH’s Nurses Day Message Board was one of the most interactive and engaging digital campaigns we’ve launched to date. Over the course of the week, the board received 506 submissions, with visitors spending significantly more time on the page compared to a standard campaign. This heightened engagement translated into 52 direct donations, demonstrating the power of pairing creative storytelling with thoughtful technical execution. The campaign not only celebrated the vital role of nurses but also fostered a sense of community and generosity among NYULH’s supporters.
